SELF-SUFFIENT PROJEC...
With the project ‘Proeftuin’, a piece of (lease) land of 600m2, with a hut on it that was once designed and built by an unknown person, is converted into an experiment and research place around ‘Building, Living, Thinking’, (inspired by Martin Heidegger).
How can a self-sufficient ‘being’ be realised? What role do ‘design’, ‘identity’, ‘art’, ‘culture’ and ‘nature’ play in this? What is the meaning of ‘relationship’ and ‘realization’? ‘Proeftuin’ offers space for relationships. How can the relationship between humans and nature be strengthened?
Proeftuin offers space for realisation. The term realization has two meanings:
1. Realizing that something has to change
2. Putting change into action
‘Proeftuin’ is a hands-on project, in which different theories and methods regarding the design of a self-sufficient (living) environment are tried out. From soil improvement, vegetable cultivation and permaculture to architecture, recycling and the relationship between people and nature. Likewise, the living lab offers space and inspiration for artistic expressions and (homemade or recycled) work materials.
